International collaboration

The European Commission encourages projects to exchange results and ideas with projects in the Americas and Asia-Pacific region. The current expert meeting with teams from Europe and Japan, aims to exchange with the Collaborative Activities to deploy SAE Level 4 mobility services in ITS Japan and UTmobI. The main topics of discussion are such that for each topic, the TransAID project has a summary note with project results, unresolved questions, and discussion topics available, as well as related summary from Japan.  

      • I2V- based traffic management measures for cooperative automated vehicles
      • Vehicle automation solutions (prototypic implementations and simulation modelling)
      • V2X communications and protocol solutions for cooperative automated driving
      • Operational Design Domain (ODD) of automated vehicles and infrastructure support
      • Priority areas for future research and innovation activities

Meeting venue: The Delegation of the European Union to Japan kindly offered to host the meeting in the Europe House in the Minato-ku area in Tokyo. Their interest is to facilitate and promote EU-Japan liaison activities on priority topics, which recently includes Connected and Automated Vehicle Technologies. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the physical two-day meeting was replaced by two online meetings.
